Steffen Herkt

Originally I am a business economist and industrial engineer. I spent many years working in quality management, industrial engineering, senior management and as a consultant for QRM and ERP software. I know how business and companies work.

When I took over the family-owned forest in 2002 and became chairman of a forestry cooperative in Brandenburg in 2016, I began to focus more and more on sustainable forestry. Now, both my professional and private life are centred on the forest and its future; it has become a passion. I am convinced that we can only shape the future successfully with sustainable and careful resource management.

I have been an auditor for FSC® and PEFC Chain of Custody since 2019. At DuraCert, I am an auditor and consultant specialising in FSC®, PEFC and EUDR in German-speaking countries.
